Storm water pollution prevention
Caltrans has installed Butts Only Box® receptacles across California at rest areas to combat the number one littered item in the world: cigarette waste. Similarly, the Nevada DOT has placed these innovative receptacles at highway rest areas along the Truckee River to protect this vital historical watershed. This water source was the first clean water encountered by settlers after crossing Utah, overcoming 400 miles of alkaline waters. The watershed is not just a scenic river; it's essential for survival. By utilizing cigarette pollution solutions like the Butts Only Box®, we ensure its protection for future generations, helping to preserve an American treasure. Our receptacles are specifically designed for effective cigarette waste management and stormwater pollution prevention. Their design prevents rain and irrigation from contaminating the cigarette waste until servicing takes place. The inner service basket can be easily removed and emptied in seconds, providing secondary containment. Moreover, the receptacles are lockable with standard padlocks, ensuring that your cigarette waste remains secure until it can be properly serviced.

Renewable energy with the Butts To Watts® program
Cigarette waste has a very high BTU potential, similar to lignite coal. When processed at a waste-to-energy facility, this waste produces over 500 watts of energy per pound. San Jose International Airport has successfully recovered over a megawatt of energy through their innovative cigarette pollution solutions program. To facilitate effective cigarette waste management, we provide covered 55-gallon metal Butts Only Boxes. On a scheduled basis, we will exchange the drums and give you a statement detailing the pounds of cigarette waste collected and the amount of energy put back on the grid.
