Caltrans has installed receptacles across California at rest areas to address the number one littered item in the world. The Nevada DOT placed Butts Only Box® receptacles at highway rest areas along the Truckee river to protect a historical watershed. This water was the first good water encountered by settlers after crossing Utah with nothing but alkaline waters for 400 miles. This watershed was more than a pretty river, it was survival. Now it is being protected for future generations so we don't lose an American treasure. Our receptacles were designed for storm water pollution prevention. The design shields cigarette waste from rain and irrigation until servicing. The inner service basket is removed and emptied in seconds, and provides secondary containment. The receptacles are lockable with standard padlocks to keep your cigarette waste secure until servicing.

Many fires are started each year by carelessly discarded cigarette butts. Our roadside model is designed to be placed at entrances and exits where smokers can safely discard cigarettes at slow speeds. Fires are costly and devastating to our environment. Preventing just one large fire can save us billions of dollars and downstream pollution for years. Our smaller trail model is designed for the smoker on foot and can be mounted on posts or walls.

Cigarettes are the number one littered item in the world. Now we can collect cigarette waste safely and divert it from landfills by sending the cigarette butts to a waste to energy facility. Many states have diversion requirements, this can help divert and create substantial energy at the same time. 

Cigarette waste has a very high BTU potential similar to lignite coal. When taken to a waste to energy facility the waste produces over 500 watts of energy per pound. San Jose International Airport has recovered over a megawatt of energy with the program so far. We provide covered 55 gallon metal drums. On a scheduled basis we come and exchange the drums and provide you with a statement of how many pounds of cigarette waste was collected and how much energy was placed back on the grid.
